Have ya heard about these 4 BAD Mother Cluckers? Four MUST read comics.
Hey there fellow geeks.
So, I am reading four of the most amazing comics that I have ever read since the WALKING DEAD COMPENDIUMS! Some of these titles you may or may not have heard of. So I hope to peck your interest because they BLEW MY FACE CLEAN OFF...
Here's COMIXOLOGY.COM's brief scoop on Madame Mirage:
Superstar writer, Paul Dini (DETECTIVE COMICS, LOST) makes an explosive return to Top Cow when he brings brand new character Madame Mirage to the Top Cow Universe! But who is this beautiful woman who appears out of the mist? As deadly as she is beautiful, she is cutting a bloody path through the city's villains, who now wear suits and have "legitimate" businesses. But who is her ultimate prey? And how does this Mirage take form? And why is her destiny and that of her sidekick Harper so irrevocably entwined?
I absolutely LOVE Mirage and Harper! They are two bad motha shut-yo-mouths, that don't take no mess off nobody, "superhero" or not. Everything that happens with these two character get so mixed up so fast; and when the shit hits the fan, you'll be like "I think I just swallowed my tongue, what the hell just happened?!" I don't want to spoil the story for you, but these chicks are amazing. Their minds, technology, fighting techniques & don't forget their sick physiques. They are the total package.
The artwork in these pages are phenomenal! So much movement and action, as if you're watching a live action movie. And speaking of, Madame Mirage could hold her own at the box office.
Let's read what IMAGECOMICS.COM has to say about ODY-C:
An epic 26 centuries in the making: In the aftermath of a galactic war a hundred years long, Odyssia the Clever Champion and her compatriots begin their longest, strangest trip yet: the one home. A gender-bent eye-popping psychedelic science fiction odyssey begins HERE, by MATT FRACTION (CASANOVA, SEX CRIMINALS, SATELLITE SAM) and CHRISTIAN WARD (INFINITE VACATION, OLYMPUS).
I feel like I am on some type mind altering hallucinogen when reading ODY-C, and I can't get enough, and I don't want to quit it. I am soo addicted to all the mind bending colors and the graphic filters used to illustrated the amazing new age tale modeled ofter THE ODYSSEY. Odyssia is the woman I want to grow up to be and train my daughter to be...KICK ASS, NO HOLDS BAR MOTHER OF A NATION.
She can break a face and feel emotion all at the same time. PERFECT WOMAN RIGHT!?
IMAGECOMICS.COM also has a glowing description of NAILBITER:
"Where do serial killers come from?" and why has Buckaroo, Oregon given birth to sixteen of the most vile serial killers in the world? NSA Agent Nicholas Finch needs to solve that mystery in order to save his friend, and he'll have to team up with the infamous Edward "Nailbiter" Warren to do it. JOSHUA WILLIAMSON & MIKE HENDERSON deliver a mystery that mixes Twin Peaks with the horror of Se7en!
Nailbiter will make you feel like you're 5 years old again and sleeping with the lights on at night. These people in this freakin town are insane in membrane! AMC needs to get in on this sick little gem of a horror. Every time someone new comes into the story-line, you have a sneaky suspicion that they may be one of the psychos that are about "snap-crackle-and-pop" on some unsuspecting dumb-ass that isn't watching their back. If you like to be scared, and don't mind a little (a lot) of gore, Nailbiter is the one for you.
Now, last but not least, let's check-in with GOODREADS.COM review on LOW:
Millennia ago, mankind fled the earth's surface into the bottomless depths of the darkest oceans. Shielded from a merciless sun's scorching radiation, the human race tried to stave off certain extinction by sending robotic probes far into the galaxy to search for a new home among the stars. Generations later, one family is about to be torn apart in a conflict that will usher in the final race to save humanity from a world beyond hope. Dive into an aquatic fantasy like none you've ever seen before, as writer Rick Remender (Fear Agent, Uncanny Avengers) and artist Greg Tocchini (Last Days of American Crime) bring you a tale mankind's final hour in the cold, deathly dark of the sea.
Stel Caine is a talented scientist, optimist and mother. If you are in a low spot in your life, Caine will be that light, that beckon of hope that can show you that things will and can get hard, darn right horrific, but you can overcome that drowning feel and make it to the surface.
The artwork is so mesmerizing. You get the feeling you are floating inside this world of watery depths.
I hope you've enjoyed all the reviews of these four tantalizing graphic novels. Pick them up online, or better yet, at a comic book store near you.
