Thor:Ragnarok vs Justice League
Not so much "VS," as much as it is a cinematic comparison. And I needed to finally get my Thor Ragnarok blog. Soooooo why not kill two birds with one ragna-rock?
I had the chance to see a morning showing of Thor Ragnarok on opening day. And as always, I absolutely think this is the perfect, optimal time to see any blockbuster because most people are at work, and not so apt to take off, and bring their screaming babies... Just sayin'.
But back to Thor.
THIS MOVIE WAS SO MUCH FUN! I could feel the adrenaline flowing through my blood the entire 2 hours and 10 minutes. I was super exhausted when I left the theater. I also had the worst pains in my stomach, face & back from all the laughing. Between Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster & Taika Waititi (director) as Korg, I could not stop laughing at the top of my lungs, like a crazy woman at a David Chappelle concert. Literal pain from laughter.
And when seeing this film (or any future comic translated to film) you have to let go of the notion that the movie needs to be EXACTLY like the comics. Its not going to be... ever. Unless Hollywood "trilogizes" all of these films, in proper order. And we know that's not going to happen. So just see it for what it is, look for what Easter eggs you can, and enjoy the ride.
The entire cast did an amazing job for starters. I was instantly sucked in as Thor slowly spun around at the end of chain link, listening to an insane Surtur ramble on about his destruction of Asgard.
And the worlds they created were overwhelmingly satisfying. From Asgard to Earth to Sakaar back to Asgard in turmoil. I really felt like I was being transported to another dimension. The cinematography is just plain insane. And I absolutely loved the slowed down action scenes that reminded me of "The 300."
Just look at these images below.
Overall, Thor Ragnarok was a rip-roaring roller coaster of a ride! I gave it 9 out of 10!
And I hope you enjoy(ed) it as much as I did.
Now for Justice League...
Just as much fun as Thor Ragnarok.
As I said in my minute Instagram Video, with the release of Wonder Woman and now Justice League, I finally "believe" that DC has two contenders to face off with Marvel. And its been a long time coming, and I am excited to see what DC has in store for the future.
I absolutely loved every 2 hours and 1 minute of Justice League, and didn't want it to stop.
Wonder Woman opened up the film with a magnificent action sequence, saving a terrified group of hostages, from a radical terrorist group.
And like Thor, the cast of JL were fantastic. From their chemistry and interaction with each other, to the unfolding of their stories that bring them together. In my opinion, I think it was done pretty well. But the character that I connected with the most was Cyborg. I was drawn into his tortured past, and how he was presently dealing with it every moment of his new existence. I hadn't ever heard of Ray Fisher until I saw Justice League, and after his performance as Cyborg, I will never forget him. I also was giddy over his "BOOYAH" Easter Egg, after him being so serious through-out the film.
And you could hear my soul sing from a mile away, when Superman "returns!" Totally satisfied with the flow of how the team resurrects him, to the fight of confusion, to Batman's "Big Gun" to calm the storm. FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC!
And dont you dare get up and leave the theater at the end! Because you miss the best Easter Egg of them all!!! My heart skipped a beat at the thought of the LEAGUE OF DOOM getting in on the action, as it should be.
So, with all that said, I give Justice League 8 out of 10! I really hope DC keeps up the good work, and expand more on their individual team members.
And for us as fans, I think that we are all in for one hell of a ride in the coming years! Cheers & Enjoy!
